At a recent Central Florida District Leadership Conference. I had stated that Summer Camp expenses had been fairly well funded through Grants, Rentals and Sertoma donations, but we needed continuing operation expense funding. At that time our camp was full to the 50 camper limit we had budgeted for. There were still 3 days left for our May 31st deadline. In that three days we had 24 completed and paid applications ($100 each) received. We hired four additional counselors to accommodate requirements for camp and opened up our last dorm. Total increased expense will come to a little more than $28,800. Using special designated funds, we will have about $2000 left for operations. It cost approximately $3600.00 per month for operations. Electricity, water, sewer, trash and garbage collection, insurance, capital improvements and maintenance supplies and repairs are not free.
This week we have 90 high school ROTC youth using your camp. 70 from Appoka and 20 from Palm Bay. After that we will have 140 youth from the Lake Wales Care Group. They pay rent to the camp and payment is calculated into providing Summer Camp for Deaf Youth. Continue reading
